Terms of Exhibition 

 

This exhibition is open to all VMAA members in good standing. Anyone can be a VMAA member regardless of nationality or residence. Non-members are eligible to apply for an extra non-members fee, which includes membership in the VMAA for the remainder of the calendar year.

All submissions must be original, demonstrate good skill level and comprise techniques related to metalsmithing and/or contemporary art jewellery.

All submissions must be for sale.

All submissions must have been fabricated within the past 3 years and not exhibited in previous VMAA exhibitions

All accepted submissions must be shipped and returned within Canada.

Selection decisions made by the jury are final.

The VMAA exhibition committee reserves the right to refuse work upon delivery that is not as represented in the submitted photograph(s).

Wall pieces and sculpture work must be ready for installation and come complete with hanging wire or hanging device and installation props.

 

Insurance

The Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery will provide insurance coverage upon receipt of all work in the exhibition when it is received for installation in satisfactory condition. The gallery will maintain adequate insurance for the duration of the show to cover theft or loss due to burglary fire or water damage or accidental damage caused by organizers and its designates.

Artists are responsible for their own insurance to protect against loss or damage in transit.

The VMAA does not accept liability for any loss or damage of art jewellery submitted to this show.

Registration and Photo Deadline – August 1, 2017

Registration for the exhibition will be done through Slideroom: https://ccbc.slideroom.com/#/permalink/program/36197.

Payments will be handled through our online payment system at shop.vancouvermetalarts.com.

Jpeg only format: 72 dpi; 1200 pixels; White background only for catalogue purposes. While images on black or a gradient background are acceptable, they may be excluded from any catalogue or publication produced for the exhibition.

High-res files will be requested if your work is selected for the exhibition.

Photos of submissions must be accompanied by a brief biography (100 words max) and an artist’s statement (a minimum of 200 words to a maximum of 400 words )

Exhibition Fees - must be received by August 1, 2017:

One submission can include up to 3 pieces.

Professional fee for VMAA members - $45.00 per submission (up to 3 pieces)
Student Fee - $25.00 per submission (up to 3 pieces). Students must be VMAA members to submit.

Non VMAA members - $70.00 per submission (up to 3 pieces). This fee gives you membership in the VMAA.

Online payment or cheques will be accepted with the submission of your registration.

Submissions made without the exhibition fee will not be considered.

Sale of Works

All works must be for sale.

The exhibiting artist will get 65%. The gallery will take a 25% commission and 10% will go to the VMAA to cover exhibition costs.

Shipping

All work must be shipped and returned within Canada.

Exhibiting artists are responsible for packaging their work to and from the gallery in appropriate boxes or containers clearly labelled with artist’s name and contact information. This includes work that is dropped off.

All shipping costs, and any fees incurred through shipping, are the sole responsibility of the exhibiting artist.

Work must be received from October 10 - 14.

Work must be scheduled for pickup from Tiny Finery on November 14 – 15 only.   It is the responsibility of the exhibiting artist to include return shipping labels with their packages, as well as all necessary packaging and documentation.
